What is SUISSEMUN?

The Models of the United Nations and other international organizations such as the OAS, the EU, the IACHR, as well as the simulation of national bodies such as the Senate of the Republic or the Truth Commission, are academic exercises that aim to "stage" the functioning of these institutions in such a way that students assume the assigned roles, use parliamentary discourse and follow the established protocol.

SUISSEMUN is above all a scenario of political construction, debate and intercultural dialogue that seeks not only the learning of a series of topics or the development of debate skills, but also the consolidation of intercultural dialogue with the development - among other things - of different languages. The topics and commissions selected for SUISSEMUN are based on the concerns of the students in training who, fortunately, have a broad awareness and global perspective to account for the importance of these discussions.

With the accompaniment of the Social Sciences Department Coordinator Lorena Suárez Valderrama, the students organize the Model, in such a way that it is the setting of leadership skills, teamwork and consensus of the school community of Colegio Helvetia.

SUISSEMUN is also a scenario to develop the Peace Chair and bring us closer to an understanding of the Colombian conflict. Sticking to discourses and old practices is increasingly inconsistent, in this role space, delegates have several hours to contrast positions, defend interests, negotiate claims and finally build agreements. It is a process that requires a good dose of creativity, tolerance and empathy.

Welcome to SUISSEMUN X, a space for intercultural debate and creation.
