SCHOOL BOARD

The School Board shall be composed of nine (9) active members of the Association, elected annually by the General Assembly.

The School Board has the following functions and powers:

  1. To issue its rules of procedure, in particular those concerning appointments to be made by it, the composition and functions of committees, the exercise of legal representation of the Association and the conclusion of contracts.
  2. To elect president, vice-president, secretary and his deputy, treasurer and his deputy, as well as their delegates to the Pro-Colegio Helvetia Foundation and the Helvetia College Board of Trustees.
  3. To review and approve the budget of the Association and authorise all expenditure provided for therein.
  4. Appoint and remove the Rector of Helvetia College, as well as the directors of other permanent academic projects.
  5. Approve, together with the Board of Directors, the Institutional Educational Project and the Helvetia School Coexistence Manual.
  6. To participate, as appropriate, in the preparation and modification of the internal regulations of Helvetia College and of the permanent educational projects.  
  7. Participate in the annual evaluation of the Institutional Educational Project.
  8. Establish contact with the teaching staff and parents, when deemed necessary or convenient, in order to inform them of its most important decisions and to learn about their problems, concerns and suggestions.
  9. To study the feasibility of developing activities and establishing projects, including academic projects of a permanent nature, in order to contribute to the improvement of the school life of the members of the Swiss community in Colombia and to ensure the financial sustainability of Colegio Helvetia.
  10. Set guidelines for the compensation and benefits of the Association's employees.
  11. To convene ordinary and extraordinary meetings of the General Assembly, in the manner provided for in the statutes.
  12. To submit to the consideration of the General Assembly at its ordinary meeting a report on the work accomplished, the financial statements for the previous school year and the budget for the following financial year.
  13. To interpret the provisions of the statutes which give rise to doubt and to determine their meaning, while the General Assembly is meeting to submit the doubt for its consideration.
  14. Maintain an up-to-date register of the Association's members, including their contact details.
  15. In general, to exercise all its functions as the Association's governing body (strategic direction).
